FDA Stands By Decision to Approve RFID Implants

I don't know anything about cancer studies regarding human implantation, but did see another interesting TV program about them. On a recent episode of "Mythbusters" on the TLC network, I think, they tested a theory that an implanted RFID chip would explode if subject to an MRI. They actually used Verichip's technology in the test - first on a slab of pork, then in the arm of one of the show's staff. Of course, nothing happened.

Two interesting things to note: 1) They consistently called it "R-fid", rather than the acronym R-F-I-D. Interesting nomenclature. 2) They indicated that there were lots of other "R-fid" myths about whether information could be easily stolen from credit cards or other ID cards - but they declined to test them. Perhaps blog-readers can petition Mythbusters to resolve those myths one way or the other...

Here is an article written by Todd Lewan of The Washington Post titled “Chip Implants Linked to Animal Tumors.”
